God’s Grace

Can you imagine being a part of a 2 century old community that has never had local access to safe drinking water? Can you imagine someone coming up to your community and promising you accessible clean water, but all they ended up doing was taking your money and disappearing? Women had to travel 5km + carrying buckets of dirty water on their heads back to their families after only 2 days of giving birth. Populations have gone down and people have been hurt and taken advantage of until this month. These are from testimonies of individuals from these communities.

Jesus called people out of their comfort zones of giving so that His love would reach these communities. Their generosity allowed them to be a part of something much bigger than themselves and their own needs; their generosity gave 1000s of people and future generations new life. These communities now feel seen, valued, heard, loved, and have witnessed God’s grace in their lives. Is that not amazing?

I normally get a bit emotional when it comes to the celebrations of the wells but this time my heart was touched even deeper. I could so clearly see God’s grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness towards these communities and it was evident that they were aware too. I am constantly reminded of what this new water represents, especially when it’s side by side with the water they use to use. Jesus cleanses us. He provides a healthy life, purified from the filth of the world. Although we still are able to witness the filth, it is no longer ours to drink because we have something MUCH better.

What a privilege to be a part of something so life changing for others, and what a great reminder for us of the gift of Jesus, our Eternal Living Water.
