Burkina Update – Week 1

We have had a good first week here overall besides a few setbacks and a day of food poisoning for me 🤦🏼‍♀️. It’s always a joy reuniting with friends and family though! Ibrahim has been very busy working on a few things…

1 – the car.

It’s still isn’t fixed. We don’t really know what’s going on but we are dealing with a good mechanic here so pray with us that today they will be able to find out what’s causing these things. It seems as if once one thing is fixed another problem occurs. We have gotten a part sent to us from Togo already to fix it but today it’s another problem. We are praying that the Lord gives them wisdom and continues to provide for whatever these things will be.

2 – his drivers permit.

While in Togo we have had many discouraging moments with road checks. There is a lot of corruption and we have been working hard at finding a solution to at least decrease their attempts. Ibrahim has had his permit since 2010 but never got a type of drivers license that was in the form of an ID card (like what we have at home). This means he has had a booklet type of drivers permit. About a month and a half ago, it had been taken by Togolese authorities claiming that it was a fake (it took three days to get back with the final conclusion of it being the real deal).

This week he has been working so hard at getting everything finished and depositing the papers needed to apply for the drivers ID. Now that everything is deposited, it should be ready in a weeks time. 🙂

3 – Lanaïa’s Burkinabé citizenship.

He is now starting Lanaïa’s citizenship papers/passport with the help of his uncle in Ouagadougou. We are so thankful for the help of family and friends here! Please pray that everything will go smoothly and that we have everything we need to get this done quickly.

Within the next week, we hope to meet up with the Bienvenue, Gilles and his family (both boys that we have been connected to since we’ve been married – even longer with Gilles!). We are excited to see them and to see how they are doing. 🙂

Thanks everyone for following us on this journey! We so appreciate your prayers and support. It is such a nice feeling knowing we have a team of people loving and praying with us. We are thankful for you!
